"Be Still and Know..."

We could not have asked for a more stress-free day of travel! Our flights were on time, no issues with U.S. customs, and the attitude of the students was tremendous. Often times with traveling, stress and worry can plague our minds. However, God always has a way of showing up and providing all our needs before we even request them.
We arrived in El Paso later in the afternoon. We were welcomed to 29 degrees above zero! What a shock leaving Edmonton with all the cold and snow. Our team is staying at the Nazarene Boarder Initiative in the south-west section of the city. This is a new site from previous years, and it is a great place with full amenities.
After supper this evening, our team talked about what they expected from this trip, and how they felt God was going to use them. The conversation eventually led to a personal challenge: personal quiet time with God this week. Immediately, Psalm 46:10 popped into a few of our heads. The verse says, "Be still and know that I am God".
To end the evening, each of us went to a quiet area of the church and did just that...spending 15 minutes with God. No distractions. Listening. Waiting to hear our Creator's voice.
Continue to pray for us. A few members of our team are not feeling that well. Nothing serious. Just the common cold and flu. Tomorrow we are off to help with a food program for a large group of Mexican people who have fled the violence in Juarez. We are really pumped to be able to serve at this site tomorrow!

Till next time...

  2. Often throughout the day yesterday you all came to mind. I would look up at the clock and see that your plane should be taking off or landing. Was praying for safety and no complications...Joelle and the others who are sick...how are your ears? Praying that you are pain free from the flight and hoping for quick recoveries. Have a wonderful and fulfilling day today:) Renee(Joelle's mom)
